Another reason…
Posted in: breeders by Serafina on February 18, 2009
Ye gads! I’ve been away for quite a while. Life got in the way, but I just had to post this gem from TMC:
Breastfeeding has ruined sex for me. I hated DH touching my breasts during the time period when I was nursing, which seemed in the realm of normal to me, and I knew it was temporary, but it’s been over six months since I stopped nursing (nursed DD til she was 15 mos.), and I still have almost no sensitivity in my nipples and it feels weird when DH goes near them. I enjoyed nursing, and wouldn’t change anything about what I did, but I had no idea this would happen. What a bummer - am I the only one?
Another reason to add to my list of “Reasons I’m not Breeding.” A part of me feels bad for a lot of women, their sex life really is ruined after having children. However, there seems to be a lot of information out there about what can happen after popping out little crotch nuggets, so I really wonder about these people’s intelligence when I hear women are surprised about how much their sex lives are effected by breeding.
Fervently thankful for being CF,

Patriotism
Posted in: Democracy, Ron Paul, Second Amendment, politics by Serafina on December 06, 2008
I often read articles on Lew Rockwell and these two were especially worth mentioning. The first is Patriotism by Ron Paul and the second, my husband sent me, is called Less Than 60 Shopping Days Till the Big Gun Grab. Many of you know that I have great respect for Dr. Paul and the first article illustrates his intelligence and knowledge. The second addresses many people’s current fears about the second amendment.
Happy reading,

… and a bit lazy too. I’ve been wanting to write a long rant about Prop 102 (in AZ) wanting to define marriage as being between a man and a woman with a picture of a stupid flier I got in the mail too. But did I ever get around to it? No. Well, had I written about it I would have said what the fuck?! Since when is it ok to write discrimination in law? Oh wait… never mind. I can’t believe Prop 102 and Prop 8 (in CA) passed. Fucking bigots! Grrr. I’m too pissed to even form coherent sentences on the injustice of such a law.
Bigotry is alive and well in AZ!

The Women of the Congo
Posted in: Misogyny, politics by Serafina on October 23, 2008
When I read this article (courtesy of Jean Ann via Twitter) I felt a lot of different emotions ranging from saddess to fury. But most of all I felt utterly hopeless. I’m not rich, so I can’t donate to any of the organizations helping these women. I can’t go over there and physically help out with whatever they’d need volunteers to do. So the closest thing I can do to help, is to write about it and hope that people will respond to this genocide of the female spirit in whatever way they can. I feel such fury toward people who do these awful things to other human beings. We must do something to stop these terrible crimes.
My heart goes out to you who suffer,

Get out of my uterus!
Posted in: breeders by Serafina on October 17, 2008
I have often wondered why people are so interested in other people’s reproductive choices. I had the topic of abortion floating around in my head and so I am rather irritated this morning. I just can’t wrap my brain around why someone would want to intefere in another’s choice to have or not to have a child. It’s none of your bloody business! What is wrong with these people? Do they not have enough to do in their own lives that they have to barge into another person’s life? If you want to reproduce: fine, I don’t really give a rats arse. But how dare these people (when I say “these people” I’m talking about the anti-choice activists) tell anyone how they ought to live life. It’s so rude!
Also, why are some people allowed to have 10 children when they aren’t capable of supporting them? If you want to have 10 kids, fine, but the government, or rather I should say us tax slaves, should not be the ones to bear the brunt of your “fruitfulness!” The better solution would be to stop supporting people who continue to reproduce and live on welfare. If you can’t earn enough money to feed your spawn, stop fucking around! Literally.
So that brings me back to those anti-choice fucks who want everyone to have babies and since most of those people wouldn’t be able to support those unwanted children, we, the tax slaves, get to support them. Isn’t it a glorious system of enabling idiots to keep being stupid? What a lovely thought on a Friday morning. It just makes me so fucking happy. Can you feel the sarcasm seeping out of your computer yet?!
I really don’t understand why tax paying adults would allow such insanity to continue. The system is broken and we’re paying for the leeches who greedily suck away our finances and happiness.
What about the right to my life, liberty and the pursuit of my happiness?

To move or not to move…
Posted in: Life by Serafina on October 16, 2008
We’re considering moving on to (hopefully) greener pastures come May 2009. Right now, I know for sure I don’t want to move to Phoenix. I’d seriously want to stick a fork in my eye if I moved there. There’s always Colorado, New Mexico, or just about any where else really. I just have to find a job first before we can go anywhere. Also, C. would need to find a good college with a good Athletic Training program. If the AT program is no good or not even available, that would be another reason not to move to a certain city. If we want to do this then we need to start planning now. May is really not that far away. *Sigh*
I’ve been in this town for just way too long. Next May will be 10 years. I think I need to get out and live somewhere else. The actually act of moving is no fun at all, but the thought of exploring a new city with new things to see and do with C. is really quite exciting. Also, hopefully the housing market for a buyer would be a little better than it is here.
Thinking of new destinations,

Religious nuts are alive and well… on the internet?!
Posted in: Religion by Serafina on October 14, 2008
So this morning I stumble onto this lovely site as I was going through my morning blog reads. Looks fairly normal, right? Wrong! Look at the counter on the left hand side of the page and read the little snipet beside it. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
What. The. Fuck. That is all I have to say. I knew there were crazies out there, but I just hadn’t seen any of their blogs as of yet. Perphas I was subconsciencly avoiding those sites because I knew they’d give me a freaking headache.
Nut jobs on the net,

In India of all places?!
Posted in: India, bullshit by Serafina on October 13, 2008
This is just bullshit! I can’t believe that this shit happens in a place like India. We are such an ancient culture with so many beautiful customs and traditions. And yet we can be fucking idiots! I grew up in Bombay and had friends of many different religions and we all fucking got along. Sometimes religion just makes some people stupid. Please note that I said “sometimes” and “some people” so don’t send me hate mail about how not all religious people are idiots! I’m talking about the dickheads who think it’s ok to shove whatever bullshit they’re preaching about down other people’s throats. Crazy bastards. Keep your fairy tales to yourself! No one cares to hear about the magical tales and mystical beings that you believe in.

Minions of the Devil: the Beauty Industry
Posted in: Life, Misogyny, culture, society by Serafina on
Behold the various ways in which the beauty industry fucks with women’s perception of beauty:
Evolution
I have been reading the book The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf but have yet to finish reading it because it just affected me in such an awful way that I just had to take a break. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful book, but it made me so sad! I’m stopped at the chapter on Sex. I can’t even begin to imagine how awful the chapter on Violence will make me feel.
Last night C. and I were watching a show on some of the best Halloween attractions around the country and the one they picked as the best was a show in New Orleans. Apparently a lot of people are trying to shut down this show for various religious reasons. I’m not religous, nor am I a prude when it comes to sex and nudity. However, violence against women, or anyone else for that matter, is where I draw the line. Just from what little I saw on TV I would sum up the show, not as some entertaining fear fest, but as a stark portrayal of violence against women as a means of entertainment. There’s a difference between a guy jumping out of the shadows of a haunted house and chasing you with a fake chain saw, as in one of the other haunted houses, versus many men in various “scenes” torturing, eating, dismembering or otherwise violently abusing women. I honestly did not see a single dipiction of a woman torturing a man. Not that it would have made any of it acceptable to me anyway. I get how having a person decked out as a monster jumping out at you can be terrifically fun but how is depictions of violence against women entertaining? It sickens me to think that people found such imagery fun. Well, it ought not to surprise me I guess, when you see how much violence toward women is actaully “accepted” in movies and on TV. Now I’m not talking about movies or TV that seek to tell a story about a victim or educate us about the prevalance of violence toward women, but I’m talking about violence used as entertainment, humor or fun.
It really disturbs to think that people seek out that sort of entertainment. It also reminded me of this letter about a “Bloody Valentine.” *shudder*
Wishing you peace, love and respect,
